Photographers.

We don’t ask all the questions at a press conference or interview the coach after a big game.

We don’t record standups or news packages with a lower third telling the people who we are and what we do.

We don’t go on air and discuss what happened at the championship game, even though we were probably the closest to the action.

We’re only recognized by our neon armbands on the sidelines with the big equipment.

So what do we do?

We capture the Gatorade showers.

The silence on the ice as the National Anthem plays before a big game.

The reaction after a go-ahead RBI triple.

The hugs after a walk-off win.

The game-winning save after 10 rounds of penalty kicks.

We take the photos that you put at the top of your game recaps and feature articles that get hundreds to thousands of views. While you can easily see who wrote the piece, you rarely see who took the photos that help tie it all together.

Photographers don’t get enough credit in the sports world. This job isn’t for just anyone and we're often underrated and underestimated.

But where would you be without us?
